The New K/MEN

November 1976. Trying something new and hoping to repeat history. The same type of promotion that led to the success of K/MEN in 1962. Contests news coverage and the K/MEN MONEY VAN. The new K/MEN! Jim Zippo (coming over from KFXM) Scott Taylor, Mike Matthews (also from KFXM)
Greg Roberts, Gary Shannon, Wayne Carlson and Chuck Johnson on weekends.
also a couple of the 1960's K/MEN Johnny Helm and Bobby Otis on weekends

    They were defintely trying to revive the station. If I remember correctly, they were playing top 40, a little of everything, but maybe not so much disco. Probably a playlist similar to KFXM. They didn't publish a survey/playlist in 1976 so I don't know exactly what they were playing.
    Anyone out there have an answer, or even a playlist or an aircheck from 1976/1977?

    In the Spring of 1974 KMEN went soft.
    They even refused to play
    TSOP by MFSB because it
    was "too repetitive musically" for their
    new format.
    "Doo doo doo doo doo doo....it's
    time to get down...doo doo doo
    doo doo doo.....etc"
    Guess they
    were looking beyond
    teenie boppers.

    I remember the night I stubbed my toe on the MotherLode rock. That's how I knew it was there. Whoops, that's pretty much the story. I hope I didn't give too much away.
