  1. Debut of Paul Revere & raiders?
    Mark Lindsey group or not??
If so, it'll be another another 2 1/2 years
    before a real hit.

  2. Paul Revere & the Raiders got to # 38 on Billboard's Hot 100 with "Like Long Hair" earlier in 1961.

    Prior to that "Beatnick Sticks"
charted on KRLA Sept of 1960.

The group was formed in 1960 in Portland, Oregon.

  6. PR&R did Louie Louie in a professional studio.
    The Kingsmen sounds like a
    garage recording
It even has a false vocal
    start after the bridge.

    The non-pros won the battle
    of Louie Louie--KINGSMEN !!!
    It will always stand out.
    The starting riff is
    recognized in the first second.

  7. PR&R were discovered by Gary Paxton in Boise when he was on tour with the Hollywood Argyles...they asked him to take them back to Hollywood, which they did.
