To this day I fail to see how LAUGH AT ME by Sonny became such a pop hit. It was a leigitimate hit but it's so bad! Can't explain pop culture and what clicks and what doesn't. Just one of those things, I guess. Lucky for Sonny he got kicked out of Martoni's in Hollywood and came up with this protest of sorts.
But then this was all in the roots of protest era gaining strength.
