  1. I see RAT RACE in the top 10.
Yet it was never heard from
    again as an oldie after
    it left the charts.
Not all POP hits are still
    popular after being big hits.

    Gonna check if KFXM-FM, Lancaster,
plays it. What I like about that
station is some of the obscure
    stuff they play.

  2. good point, Anony said, about listening to Lanacaster's FM'er KFXM for the few (but well remembered) obscure recorded pop hits NEVER played anywhere else on to-day's ultra-homogenised radio broadcasting monopoly!
is this not a sad commentary on
how our own American government has given over the AM & FM radio airwaves into the hands of an ever-increasingly small minority of transworld, mega-corporate special interests who have no desire to ever return radio to local ownership, programming and employment for "the publick good"?
for those of us who worked in broadcasting circles when it last existed almost independently, the loss of genuine local-talent/community-oriented radio media ought to be considered an outrage!

  3. KFXM-FM on the internet is
    wonderful. Maybe someday
they will add metadata and we
    can see what's playing.
99.7% of the time, I know the tunes.
There's that rare one here and
    there I have never heard.
    Especially hard to figure out
    if it's instrumental.
    With lyrics, google comes
    in handy.
    BUT, if you call Saturday
mornings, BOB, who I think owns
the station, can usually tell you
what it is, if you can somehow
    verbalise the tune.

By the way, love those original
KFXM jingles. How'd they do that?
    I mean rights to them.
Tullis & Hearne are turning over
    in their ethernet graves.
Guess copyrights ran out long ago.
These jingles are 45 years after they first
    aired.

  4. thank you for the great message about getting the best out of listening to the Lancaster retro-version of KFXM on the Net...
i sure wish the average citizen would be as well-informed as this One is about the use of intellectual concepts such as old radio jingles used for modern-day online activities!
as long as the use is NOT for profit-making purposes and is for educational, infomational, cultural, publick service, etc. in the current circumstance, there is NO real problem, legal or otherwise, with the usage of such materials. People ought to read up and get fully informed about the exemptions provided for in U.S. Copyright Law which allows for older intellectual concepts to be freely used by non-profit individuals and entities.

  5. Got the explanation about rights.
BUT you're tellimg me KFXM-FM, 100-watt station in nearby Lancaster,
is NON PROFIT? How does Bob keep it
    running? He has expenses.
None of which is Bob or Johnny Helm.
    Ok, Lucy, Splain this... :)

  6. ya know, Anony, there is an uncertainty about whether or not you are pulling my foot about this subject! if you are in need of a basic education about the primary differences between profit-MAKING and NON-profit business structures -- especially as they relate to broadcasting, i suggest you simply get busy and learn for yourself from the Internet or take a course at your local community college. FYI: i learned this stuff way back in high school Economics class, so where were you?
BTW: KFXM-LP radio station is owned by THE ORGANIZATION FOR THE PRESERVATION & CULTIVATION OF RADIO which accepts DONATIONS...
by this criteria, can you figure out if this enterprise is NOT-FOR-PROFIT???

  7. No, not pulling your strings.
I didn't know the full owner
of the station. I just figured
    it was Bob's.

Don't have the time to delve
    into copyright law. This is
    not that important to me.
I made a comment and it need not
    be exploited further.

I don't have to know the full
    Constitution to make some innocent
    remarks about it. If something
    is really important and makes
or breaks my happiness, I will
    research it. This copyright
    stuff is irrelevent to life
    in the universe.

  8. no harm done, Anony, and thanks for the clarification of your original request... it was just when you mentioned the "Ok, Lucy, Splain this... " comment that i began to wonder -- for you see, my own sister just happens to use that exact same expression which does not get her any mileage with me.
anyway, i hope the info provided thus far was helpful to you; and i DO like your take on life and the relative importance of things in the universe-at-large. now that's a pretty cool philosophy in my book!
