Shakin' All Over-Guess Who
Amazing year for the RIGHTEOUS BROS.
ReplyDeleteOnly in 1965 will they have a string
of hits, Spector as lead Maestro.
Their 2nd one is on the charts now.
Their 3rd will prove to be really
intresting: HUNG ON YOU as the "A"
side. This will prove to be one of
Spector's flops until they flip it over
and find one of Pops truly greatest hits
come alive. Twice!
And how was this May day for you in '65?
FOR RADIO 93 KHJ, MAY 1965 WAS A VERY BOSS TIME FOR L.A.!
ReplyDeleteI stil like Hung on You better than the flip and Just Once in My Life better than Lovin' Feelin. But my favorite Righteous Bros. song is My Babe. Jonny Bruce
ReplyDeleteAfter the RBros split, Medley's
ReplyDeleteBROWN EYED WOMAN was his best!
Guess Bobby Hatfield never had
a hit on his own.
HUNG ON YOU is really great, I agree.
ReplyDeleteIt lasted 3 weeks by itself till
that miracoulous flippping became
the hit side.
Oddly enough, it was even bigger
the 2nd time around because of
the movie GHOST. That song in the
jukebox gave it a 2nd life.
On verve records, they only 1 major
ReplyDeletehit. They had another on Verve I really
liked: ON THIS SIDE OF GOODBYE.
It just caught my ear and had hoped
it would be major. Not to be. :(
