THE Gordon Lightfoot at #51 or
ReplyDeletesomeone else? He wouldn't hit
big till about 74 if that's the case.
A rose is still a rose. And a Gordon Lightfoot in '62 is still also the same in the Seventies!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget his 1970 top ten hit, "If You Could Read My Mind". I really love that record.
ReplyDeleteMy fab all-time Gordon Lightfoot song-on-45RPM is "The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald" from the early 1970's. Truly, one of the best ballad odes to a maritime ship tragedy of the 20th Century!
ReplyDeleteA sentimental favorite is
ReplyDeleteRAINY DAY PEOPLE.
Never ever got tired of that one.
I'm gonna listen to it now!
So where is he now??
ReplyDeleteOld Gordon L., who may have believed he was THE [chosen] ONE, is probably having a RAINY DAY WALK on the ship EDMUND FITZGERALD while wondering if his fellow shipmates are READING HIS MIND! (lol)
ReplyDeleteWas there a SUNDOWN somewhere
ReplyDeletein that montage. SHoulda been.
