We were in fraternity together (Dionysus). Gene had the midnight to 6 AM spot on KFXM. Big party on a Saturday night (1965). On the way home with my date (It was after 12:00 midnight) the disc jockey on KFXM said, "the time is 12:30 and I'm sure that Gene will be here soon". I remember saying to myself, "Don't think so. Not in the condition he was in when we left the party".
