  1. Got to be one of their
    Best: Ike & Tina's A FOOL
IN LOVE. Love that garage sound
and Tina belts it out the best.
    They were great.
Too bad their life backgrounds were
so deranged. At least IKE was.
I do believe the movie and
    books written about their messy
    relationship. She won out in
the end and IKE refuted it all.
    He died denying it all.
    We didn't believe him.
TINA proved she was a winner
    all along.

  3. Re: Roy Cordell mention on KFXM survey hit #56:
as we know from before, Mr. Cordell always got his "take" for most recording projects he was involved in or trying to promote on the side through his personal contacts within the industry...
this was a standard practice back then for many DJ's who stood to gain dollar-wise through this
    clever-ruse version of payola.
Note that Dick Clark and Alan Freed were progenitors of this
    none-too-subtle "record promotion" practice!

  4. Interesting to see the "Once In Awhile" by the Chimes was moving up the top 40 of the "Fabulous 59" this week.

The song wouldn't peak nationally on the Billboard HOT 100 until January and February of 1961.

Until I saw this tunesheet, I though KFXM dropped the ball on this fabulous song altogether.

Good to see I was not only wrong, but that KFXM was so early on it, smelling a huge hit, which was to be only after a few more MONTHS went by.

PS: Does anyone remember "Gee Baby" by Jo and Ann?

"Gee baby, baby baby you're so fine, fine, fine..."

That was an early 1961 KFXM hit tune that didn't even make the HOT 100 as far as I know.
