On both KFXM and K/men, the #1 record of the week is I Want To Hold Your Hand-The Beatles. KFXM also includes I Saw Her Standing There as #1. This is the second week the song is on the survey for each station. If you notice on K/men, they have the date of 1/3 as when the song was first played on the station. Also included on each survey is Please Please Me.

I remember getting on my big yellow school bus in 7th grade, usually a little after 7:30 every morning. The bus radio was usually tuned to KMEN. I remember that they seemed to play "I want to hold your hand" every morning not long after I got on. It's one of my clearest memories of junior high.
Hard to believe it's actually been FIFTY freaking years already since those heady days when Beatlemania swept across the entire country!
I can't be THAT old, can I?
Be glad you're around to make a statement on
that golden 50. I am. I remember this
January 1964 vividly. It was an amazing
time how Beatles swept the country.
It was fresh and exciting. Who knew their
music would last forever. Still great in
retrospect.
Talk about good timing, my first year in radio was 1964. What an exciting era, simply the best musically. We all were a part of it....and will never forget it!
Outstanding place to be, Johnny,
doing AM top 40 radio right when the Beatles changed everything for us!
Envy those pioneering experiences you must have witnessed personally on-and off the air.
What a great blog you have here! I love to examine these old surveys. They are loaded with artists and songs I haven't thought about in years. These top tunes lists from early 1964 remind us how much diversity existed on the charts at the start of Beatlemania and the British Invasion. I have Jody Miller in my current post and I invite you to come over and check out my blog. Thanks, and have a great day!
