Town Without Pity-Gene Pitney

Look back at the 1961 KFXM survey posted on October 27 (week ending October 20, 1961) and you will notice a new song at #48 Town Without Pity-Gene Pitney.  Well I've looked and that is the only time it appears on a KFXM survey.  It doesn't get listed again (at least I couldn't find it). It hit #13 nationally.  It was played in the later 60's, but barely charted on KFXM.  Anyone out there know the story about the Surveys Without Pitney?

KFXM November 5, 1965

First, yesterday I listed a bunch of  new songs on K/MEN.  All of them received a huge amount of airplay except one. I don't remember Fever-McCoys being played.  Although I've heard it as an oldie on a lot of stations. Anyone agree? The others on the list were played for years.

On KFXM
Get Off My Cloud-Rolling Stones #1
New on the top ten
Make Me Your Baby-Barbara Lewis #6
Rescue Me-Fontella Bass #8

Only one of these new songs didn't seem to get excessive airplay over the years in the Inland Empire (in my opinion) on K/MEN and KFXM.  The rest got heard a lot.  Any guesses?  I let you know tomorrow.
