Searching for KFXM Surveys

Back in 1989 I had decided that maybe I would be able to enlarge my collection of KFXM and K/men surveys.  At this point I didn't have many surveys from before 1965 and a lot of gaps in surveys after 1973.  One of the first steps I took was writing to radio station KRSO (sadly no longer KFXM) and received this response.  I ran into this letter today while looking through some old files, so I thought I would share it.  It was nice to get a response, but not the one I wanted.   The blocked out section was my address at the time.  Did not want whoever lives there now to get correspndence meant for me.

KFXM K/MEN 40 Years Ago today

Let's move ahead 10 years.   If you remember 1973, you won't be thinking it was 40 years ago, but it was.

The Rolling Stones in concert.  Whatever happened to them?
No Creedence Clearwater Revival on the charts, but we have the Blue Ridge Rangers on both surveys.  Arranged,  produced,  sung and playing all instruments by John Fogerty

1972 Top Hits (Your Choice)

!972 was the last year K/MEN printed up a Top Hits of the year to be distributed.  Their last survey was August 10, 1973, so no 1973 Top 100

The official KFXM Top 100 of 1972.  #95 is actually Keeper Of The Castle-Four Tops

My calculated hits of 1972 from the KFXM surveys

KFXM Top Hits of 1984

1984 was the last Full Year of  KFXM surveys.  The last survey was January 15, 1985.  They did not publish a year end Hits for 1984.   But here is the KFXM Top 125 of 1984 based on the years surveys that I have.

K/MEN Top Hits of 1964 KFXM

The K/MEN Top 129 of 1964

KFXM did not have a printed survey for the Top Hits of 1964.   At least I've never seen one.  If anyone out there has one, I would appreciate if you shared it with me!

This is based on the surveys I have from 1964.  Here are 180 hits from 1964.  Even some of the songs in the bottom 80 you will recognize as big hits.

1978 Again

No KFXM year end survey for 1978, but based on the surveys I have this is what I had come up with for the year.  Something to compare with the K/MEN top 129.

K/MEN Top 129 Hits of 1978

At the end of 1978 K/men played their Top 129 of the year.   They didn't publish it, so I requested a copy and they gave me one.  They weren't publishing a weekly top hits, so I don't know what they based this on.  They may still had their weekly top thirty, but just not printing it up for the public.

I don't have a KFXM year end, and I don't remember if they played the top hits of 1978.  If I requested a copy, I didn't get one.  KFXM published their weekly hits until the beginning of 1985, but no year end countdown after 1977.  Or at least I didn't get one after 1977.

Top Hits of 1975 and 1977 on KFXM

By Request: The Top Hits of 1975 and 1977 on KFXM
As far as I know there were no Top Hits of the year printed by KFXM after 1977.
Again, you would think they could have done a Top 100

Today in KFXM Surveys January 7, 1977---Top Hits of 1976

Yes, it is the January 7, 1977 survey, even though the 7 is missing.   These were the days of disco, there are a lot of songs on the survey that are definitely not disco.  But come on KFXM!  Couldn't you have done a Top 100?
