A freaking legend is what Lyle is! Thanks for posting the bio on this great among greats broadcaster from KFXM's silver age days.
Historical fact: Lyle Kilgore was one of the original announcing staff hired on in 1957 when, (1) Howard Tullis purchasd KFXM Radio and, (2) the station went from Mutual Broadcasting System network programming to an independent Top 60 rock 'n' roll music format -- the very first such 'pop music' outlet in the San Bernardino area! although KITO, KCKC and perhaps a few others tried similar popular/R&R formats, clearly KFXM was the preeminent pioneer broadcaster to garner some huge ratings for many years, at least until the 1962 debut of a newly-christened competitor, K/MEN Radio.
Diitos on radio announcer turned newsman Lyle Kilgore being the "Inland Empire Walter Cronkie" cuz that's how i also remembered him when he did his newscasts for the L.A. stations, too!
