I received this picture from Johnny Helm (who in return received it from Doug DeRoo) According to Johnny, this was a remote at the Orange Show around April 1968. For those that don't know, Johnny is the tall guy in the center above the X in KFXM, and to his right is Doug DeRoo. Anyone else recognize themselves in the picture?

Well, this remote was definitely NOT located within the National Orange Show grounds! Appears to be outside in a parking lot nearby where the Inland Cinema Theatre used to be, just across the street from where White Front was situated.
Hey Doug, did you "get any" that day? There were a number of choice pieces appearing in that photograph!
I agree with #1, the location appears to be near the Orange Show grounds, not actually at the show. My memory is fuzzy, it's from 45 years ago.
Could that be Birdie Bush standing on my left??
It sure LOOKS like Birdie, right age and appearance for that time period.
Amazing one-shot photograph of a memorable event starring you, John, at the height of your radio fame.
Meanwhile, have a rockin' show this weekend down in Lancaster!
I see (W.T.) Grant's and Long's Drugs signs. On the left a sign reads ...ON PLAZA.
Arlington Plaza in Riverside?
Well, I can tell ya that photo-op location was not along Mill Street or "E" Street where the Orange Show is located!
Is that Doug DeRoo guy some kind of radio slut switch-hitter? He's always popping up in the narratives about things at KFXM or KMEN.
Doug DeRoo worked at KMEN "The Truckin' 1290" during the same period as i did. he is entitled to his perspective right for inclusion in Inland Empire radio discussions.
The use of derogatory labeling is cowardly when posted by individuals who hide behind anonymity with neither the courage nor integrity to identify their extraneous remarks!
Doug DeRoo was destined for a radio/broadcasting career. He was only in high school/college when his interest in radio had him popping in and being involved in all those different KFXM and KMEN events. I don't think he's ever done anything in his working career that wasn't in the radio/tv business. He's been at it for 40+ years now.
Yes, i totally agree with the previous post, adding that DeRoo-man is a genuinely unique air personality.
Just being around him (way back when) was always good times because he seemed to ooze that weird zaniness of his 24/7!
A rough spot for Doug DeRoo... There's a broadcst news video online about the foreclosure of his Bakerfield home in early May 2013. Doug is in the video. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oImQwwUt_fc
Web Guy
ATTENTION! DeRoo needs immediate assistance, financially, if one has the means and ability to do so on his behalf.
URGENT housing/pet crisis situation for Doug, so please contact him directly on Facebook if you are able to render aid to a great Inland Empire former radio personality.
thank you all for your consideration.
