A Little KFXM Information from KFXM

Thanks to Vic Moreno for a KFXM historical document.  What year?  Perhaps sometimes in the late 1960's.

Very interesting stuff for the technically inclined. Of particular interest are the photos of other stations' facilities. For example KPRO was still located at their original 1941 site where the 60 and 91 freeways crossed.
KFXM did have a good signal, better than the others. With AM it's mostly about ground wave signal and ground conductivity and they had an excellent transmitter site.

Though I was more a fan of KMEN then KFXM I've always felt that their studio location poolside at the Holiday Inn in the 1960's was just perfect for Southern California. Does anyone know of any station that had a more gorgeous site in Southern California?

KEZY had one of their studios in the Disneyland Hotel lobby. But yes KFXM/KDUO had a sweet setup. Since Tullis & Hearne likely owned the land the Holiday Inn was built on I figure they cut some sort of deal.

Howard "The Man"(Tullis) sure as hell cut a very sweet deal with then-corporate Holiday Inn executives to have his two-station studios and company offices built right on the premises. Deal of the Century you're damned right it was!
