Some good ones on the Wax To Watch list this week.
"Follow That Dream" Elvis
"I Love You" The Volumes
"Village Of Love" Nat Mayer

The song that will be the biggest hit from this list is resting on the flip side of # 44 "Take It Like A Man"

"The Rains Came - BIG SAMBO and The House-Wreckers"...

Ah, the days when there was still freedom of speech and expression -- BEFORE the communist-inspired New Order of 'Political Correctness' took over our country and Constitution!

WHERE is Big Sambo when we need him???

How the heck did PT109 make it to #1. I don't even remember that
tune, lyrics or anything about it.

PT109 was a BIG hit. It was the follow-up to BIG BAD JOHN. After JFK was assassinated, PT109 was dropped into the deep pit of "Forgotton Golden Oldies". It is RARE when anyone plays it these days.

I can tell you where Big Sambo is. Nowhere. In later pressings of the record, Big Sambo became Big Sam, the first shot of political correctness (your phrase). Most likely the commies did it.

As to P.T. 109, that was the identifier of JFK's boat in WWII, but that's not the reason it dropped into "the deep pit of "Forgotton Golden Oldies".

It's because it's a ho-hum performance.

What do the Volumes and Nathaniel Mayer have in common? Anyone?

BTW, did BIG SAMBO happen to be a negro aka soul man aka black aka African-American aka rapper head???

The Voulmes & Nathaniel Mayer

Have these things in common

Were from Detroit.
they each had only one Top 40 hit.
both peaked at #22 on Billboard in 1962.

Bob Harlow is exact-a-mundo correct...and both were Motor City acts that never produced Motown vinyl.

Never was that fixated on Big Sambo/Big Sam like Anonymous is...consider a hobby...volunteer for good deeds.

Baloney! I still call 'em as I see 'em. that P.C. dung is for dummies and liberal-socialist-communist types. And yes, my hobby is humanity, along with diggin' the music from my era.
