I've still got my "Monster Mash" vinyl album. I loved all things "monster" when I was 10 or 11 years old. That vinyl album is now over 50 years old and it's probably in better condition then I am.
If there ever was a song that was married to a Holiday it is "Monster Mash" and Halloween. The only other one for Halloween is Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Which one you favor as the real Halloween song likely depends on your age.
You forgot about Jumpin' Gene Simmons recording of "Haunted House" which reached number 11 on Billboard's Hot 100 during August 1964. The late Simmons departed for that errie haunted house in the sky on August 29, 2006 at age 73. His only Top 40 hit single remains an all-time Halloween favourite!
You guys are way off base! The greatest Halloweenie song is definitely gotta be "Witchy Woman" by the Eagles from 1972. That tune still gives me the shivers whenever that nasty witch does her thing in the record!!!
This is interesting. I never connected that "Witchy Women" could be a Halloween song. I always interpeted it as a more polite way of saying "Bitchy Women" so I never saw a Halloween connection. Too much thinking and interpetation and I missed the obvious.

p.s. Guess you NEVER went Halloween shopping because practically every October 31st holiday CD compilation has that recording by The Eagles.
