Buddy Holly,Ritchie Valens, Big Bopper
Couldn't find a KFXM or K/MEN weekly survey with Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens or Big Bopper's hits listed, but 5 years later April 10, 1964 KFXM has Not Fade Away-Rolling Stones as a Rhett Walker's personal pick In the late 60s they were still being played on the radio (otherwise I probably would never have heard them.) It's hard to believe it's 50 years later.

Rose & I personally made a pilgrimage to the plane crash site in an Iowa cornfield in 2006.
It's about a mile inland from the rural road.
Only marker is a piece of cardboard with a hand-drawn "arrow" on it (pointing the way alonmg a narrow path), nailed on a telephone pole.
There is a homemade memorial shrine at the exact crash site.
We saw warped vinyl records, used condoms, marijuana plants, and melted candles among candy wrappers, trash, letters and you name it, alongside the "shrine."
Pictures of this homemade shrine can be found on the internet.
