KFXM January 7, 1980

Starting a new year with a new year, and the first year of the 1980s on KFXM.  Notice the survey even tells you which album the song is on.
Sara-Fleetwood Mac #1 First #1 of the'80s
New in the top ten for the week
Coward Of The County-Kenny Rogers #4
Don't Do Me Like That-Tom Petty #9
Cruisin'-Smokey Robinson #10
Highest debut
I Wanna Be Your Lover-Prince #29
Who else is among the hits on this KFXM chart the first week of 1980?
Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Ciff Richard, Dionne Warwick, Neil Diamond
These guys have been around for a long time.
But there is also:
Donna Summer, Daryl Hall & John Oates, The Eagles, ELO, Cheap Trick

Not anything more than advertising on the back of the survey.  But soon we'll have the DJ lineup.

Sad to see how the KFXM Tune Sheet has lost it's flavor and uniqueness, now reduced to a bland publication lacking any of the promotional and entertaining character from Tiger Radio's heydays. Too bad.

But it's still a welcome contribution for Doug to continue posting the post-Tiger Radio surveys since they represent the final legacy of KFXM, a once-great radio station!

Yes, do appreciate the
surveys.

Was Al Anthony gone from KFXM.
He resurrected the station in
the mid 60s and gave KMEN competition.

At one point, Tullis fired
Al Anthony. I don't know if it
was during this period.
Mrs. Tullis managed to yank
him back to KFXM but not sure
of the timeline. She was in
charge as Mr. Tullis had died.

OK, who knows the details??????

The downslide of KFXM, and overall
AM radio, was on. KFXM has only
6 years to go and then they
pull the plug.

Does anyone have an aircheck
of the station's last hour???

John Bunnell's story about the firing of his father, Bob Bunnell (Sales Manager) and Al Anthony
(Vice President, Director of Operations) from KFXM, is available at the following URL address:
