And only 5 years to go before
KFXM-AM pulls the plug.

Does anyone have a copy of the
final aircheck? Anybody there
at that final hour.

Was Al Anthony at the helm
"the day the music died"??

ANSWERS TO --

QUESTION #2: Craig Powers, outgoing program director.

QUESTION #3: yes.

as to the First query, Mr. Powers likely recorded that final K.F.X.M. Radio program which reportedly ended an evening shift... If you are out there, Craig, we would be obliged to hear from you on this point of interest!

Hope he answers and we can
get a copy. Utube it.

Must have been hard for Al to
be there. He revitalized this
station to it's best. This was
his baby through the best and
worst of times.

True enough, Almondo Fiori was primarily responsible for many decades of substantial profits for his employer, Tullis and Hearne Broadcasting, Inc.

And Al gave much of his adult life professionally building that radio empire of the Southland.

Yet, the time had come:
telecommunication DE-regulation, marketplace evolvement, advancing technology offering more media choices, and a new generation with its own eclectic music tastes --
had effectively altered the viability of Top 30 radio as we knew it, thereby, ensuring the eventual demise and winking out of a 50-year+ broadcasting institution.

all goode things eventually come to an end, and for many of us listeners and former radio people, KFXM was compelled to bid San Bernardino/Riverside/Ontario adieu.

and so now, all we have left are the precious memories of our grand olde Tiger Radio.
