KFXM June 29, 1977

First week of the brand new KFXM Survey that will last until January 15, 1985
Undercover Angel-Alan O'Day #1
New in the top ten
Looks Like We Made It-Barry Manilow #5
Jet Airliner-Steve Miller Band #9
In reality this is the the same survey as last week in a different format, if you thought this information looked familiar.   A more accurate date would be June 27.

Oh, botsch! What's sad is the demise of the Tiger Radio format and all of Al Anthony's prior promotional genius to the station's legendary identification.
Now what remains of KFXM's identity is so boringly generic.

Adieu, Edgrrrr, for we knew you when and grooved you a lot, old pal...............

From what I recall, KFXM was going through a very turbulent period of doing business with major staff changes, new programming direction, studio and broadcasting hardware upgrades, and an image modification -- all at the behest of new station owner Henry Broadcasting.

So glad I wasn't there personally to witness the finis for "Tiger Radio"!

By the way, one more keen observation about this week's "new" survey:

Even the much older classic KFXM survey sheets from 1959 to 1964 (prior to the advent of the famed Tiger Tune Sheet) were heck of a lot more interesting and classier than what's now being published.

The earlier blogger was right. KFXM's June 29, 1977 survey publication IS really "boring"!

Just so fellow blog followers understand is how very interesting Doug's postings continue to be (as least for me). It's just that the newer KFXM survey sheets have lost their appeal due to a lackluster "generic" look as a prior blogger has noted.
