#16 on the survey, RAT RACE by Richard Maltby. I really liked that instrumental tune 49 years ago. Played it again today after seeing it here. Sure sounds a lot like BATMAN THEME by Neil Hefti. That would come 6 years later. They have many similarities. A few changes here and there and they're quite close.
But then, I still insist that BILLY JEAN and DO IT AGAIN are really similar in their openings. Yes? No??
thanks ANONY for that review about Maltby's old "Rat Race" tune. i have always wondered about that cut; it seems to have haunted me thru the years due to its intrinsic use of 'da-da-da' rhythm lead similar in the other songs you described, and quite possibly many more.
