I think it was Rat Race by Richard Maltby, not by the Miracles, who recorded Way Over There.

how so interesting that a former fowl-plucker (was he working at "Plucky Dick's Duck Pluckery"?)changed his name and then, changed the world dance scene with a new artistic form of nonverbal communication called "THE TWIST"...
it's really cool to actually see how this event unfolded locally on KFXM's radio music survey as it happened exactly 49 years ago this week.
