I miss the KFXM billboard. I first visited the Holiday Inn in late 1964. It was really state of the art then. It is a pity to see the condition of that motel now. Those who run the city of San Bernardino ought to be ashamed of themselves.

HEY, BROTHER EARL, in case you have not heard yet, San Bernardino -- the former "City On The Move" -- has been eloquently re-christened as "TIJUANA DEL NORTE", now that it looks and feels just like its counterpart below the Taco Bell border...

KFXM 590, now KTLK, is also known
as the TACO of the inland empire.

Hey It's March 10 !
So what?
Well Happy Birthday KMEN 129.
It's your 48th.
March 10 1962 6AM.
Amazing how long ago that was.
Yet, I remember that day with
fondness. A new station playing
the rock hits. They had a great
gimmick. Putting callers on the air
requesting songs. Not novel idea
but it worked for me. I called and
was confused why I didn't hear myself
on the air. Didn't know about delays
and such. I hung around to listen.
Pleasantly surprised.

Happy Happy old KMEN.

thought they'd never end. ........:

Actually the old Holiday Inn, now some
no-name motel, has gotten major
rennovations. Looks better but not
exactly the old Holiday Inn.

For a while it was a place for transients
with room rates to match--low low.
Looked like welfare city for many many
years. The old KFXM studio building is
still there with slight reminders of what
it was. I'll always remember that place
and what it meant to so many listeners
and those who passed through it's
hallways. Where is Almondo Fiori now?

TIGER RADIO'S "EL BOSSO" Al Anthony (aka Almondo Fiori),
at last word, was living a well-earned life in retirement back East in Kentuckyland.
heard Al was writing his memoirs which ought to be a best-seller if his book is published someday soon (me hopes)...

ZOWIE, HAS IT BEEN 48 YEARS already
since The K/Men came into being???
whoa, what a time displacement -- what an era when Pop/Rock Music AM-radio was just reaching it's peak...

I remember my father having lunch at the Holiday Inn restaurant ... WHITE tableclothes ... fine dining ... and the 9 hole golf course next to the hotel. WHAT HAPPENED is that San Bernardino decided they wanted Hospitality Lane off the I-10 to be the gateway to the city and so the classy businesses moved over there. Hospitality Lane and the hotels over there killed off the Holiday Inn. There was always SOME Spanish in SB, but it seems it has increased and the white folks have moved out. That deserted mall downtown is a huge eyesore!!!
