How is it that KFXM is totally missing Surfin USA by the Beach Boys, a major national hit and #3 on KMEN?

Did not notice the Beach Boys
missing on KFXM.
But that is so strange.
Such a big hit everywhere
and KFXM decides to pass on it.

Just listening to the song you
know it's great.

Do not fear Surfin' USA fans. A peak into the future fo KFXM's next survey. The Beach Boys will be making a very high debut on the top 40.

Yea but it took them this
long to figure it out?
Incredible.

If you'll notice, the name "Steve Janowick" appears with the deejay crew at the bottom of the survey. He did weekends at the time.

Steve would change his name to Steve Jay and is within a month or two of becoming the new morning man at KFXM, replacing long time "Rise and Shine" 6-10am host Ron Garner, who went up north to KKIS in Pittsburgh, CA.

Meanwhile, over at K/men, when Steve became the new morning man at KFXM, "ears" heard him, got a bit worried because he sounded so good, and contacted him to move north to Fresno Top 40 radio, just to get him "out" of the market.

It's a good thing...ALL of the KFXM jocks would be canned late in the year to make way for Larry Lujack, "Jockey" John Stone, Bob Holmes, Jerry somethingorother, then, later...C. Norman Chase, Lynn Bryson and all of the deejays of the month...none of them stayed long....

Jerry Brooke!! THAT'S the Jerry somethingorother I was trying to think of. He left pretty quickly and went east...one of the stations he turned up on was 63 KDWB in Minneapolis.

and, P.S. Steve Jay is the same Steve Jay that went on to BIG Top 40 stations in San Diego and Los Angeles!! He also used Jay Stevens.
