The second was a personal note in response to a letter I wrote to Johnny Kaye. I don't remember what my request was, but he passed it on to Chris Roberts.

KFXM Correspondence
Back in the sixties when I won contests on KFXM there was often a promotional note of some activity from the DJ from whomI won. The one shown here is a "Bob B. Blue Giz Club" (Sorry, don't have any other details)
The second was a personal note in response to a letter I wrote to Johnny Kaye. I don't remember what my request was, but he passed it on to Chris Roberts.

WELL, WELL, WELL!
I HAD FORGOTTEN THAT MEMO WE SENT OUT FOR BOB B.'S FAN CLUB...
THIS, ALONG WITH MY WORK FOR DON MCCOY'S WOMAN HATER'S CLUB HELPED GIVE ME MY START IN RADIO BROADCASTING THRU MY ASSOCIATION FIRST WITH KFXM AND LATER KMEN, BEFORE I DEPARTED MY HOMETOWN FOR GREATER DJ GLORY IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA RADIO CIRCLES...
A REAL BLAST FROM MY PAST (37 years or so ago)-- AND I MUST ADMIT, I AM QUITE PROUD OF THIS PAST ACCOMPLISHMENT WITH THE GIZ CLUB...
P.S. DO YOU KNOW WHAT A "GIZ" WAS?
I DO, AND HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN!
BEST REGARDS YOUR SUPER WEBSITE,
BEN E. MCCOY
AKA: HENRY CHACON
Thank you for your comments. After all this time why not share your knowledge of "Giz"?
well now, i will let you in on the secret: the word came directly from a fellow classmate in Print Shop during summer school. he ALWAYS kept kneedling me with "Hey, Giz, how's it going?" and "Hey, man, how's your Giz going?"
after weeks of this guy's inane quips, i finally asked him, "Listen, will you tell me what the heck a 'Giz' is?!!" this was exactly what this older classman finally told me: "I'll tell you, man. a 'Giz' IS ANYTHING YOU WANT IT TO BE. IT'S JUST A CONCEPT, man. can you dig it?"
following that explanation, when i founded a fan club for Bob B. Blue, and he asked what to name it, i suggested we call it "The GIZ Club." when Bob asked what that word meant, i repeated the same thing i was told in Print Shop and he liked it, saying how he thought 'Giz' was a kool name for a club during those psychedelic times. hence, the Bob b. Blue Giz Club was born!
