Happy 4th! Celebrate 40 Years Ago

Back in 1972, I was there.  This took place at the National Orange Show Racetrack on E Street.
Of the groups playing, I really wanted to see Freddie Cannon.  Freddie was the last one to come on, and it was getting dark.  Most of the other groups before Freddie did not do a good job.  I don't think The Drifters even made it to the stage.   The people didn't want to hear the music, but wanted to see the fireworks.  People were yelling for the fireworks to begin.  Freddie Cannon came on, and people were still yelling.  He did only one song, Action.  It was great, but people didn't want to hear him.  They only wanted the fireworks.

I was there too and recall major sound system problems which made the show run late.

There's just no end to the treasures and nuggets in Doug's Stuff Room. Great stuff!
