Johnny Helm on KMEN129

Remember K/MEN?

Remember 1970?

Remember Johnny Helm?

Well you can relive it all! See below.

Hi Doug, hope things are going well for you. I'd like you to spread the word about something that's coming up next Friday. I have a K/MEN air-check that will be exactly 40 years old, that my engineer at KFXM has restored with stereo songs. Most of the commercials are intact. Harley, over at kmen129.com, is anxious to air it on his web-site. It runs almost 45 minutes and I would like all the people that enjoy your web-site to re-live a portion of that day, some 40 years ago. You can pass along this e-mail on your web-site, and hopefully, we'll get a large audience this coming Friday afternoon.
Sincerely,
Johnny Helm

December 11, 1959 Repeat

Had a request for the "readable" recreation of of this survey by itself.  Had to put it at a higher dpi to make it more readable, since the font is a little smaller than an original return.  I "recreated" this survey, only because the copy I was given, was so blurry and hard to read.

I did notice I made a mistake on the last post.  The highest debut is actually #25 There Goes My Love-Fantastics

KFXM December 11, 1959

Copy I have of this week is almost imposible to read, so I created a new version.  It's better, but not perfect.

Letter from Roy L. Cordell station directer of KFXM and KAFY

Fun facts from this letter.

The Mission Inn studios for KFXM have just been opened.

8,000 surveys are distributed each week (maybe 8 or so probably still exist).

Al Anthony is mentioned as director of progrming at KAFY.

KFXM is number one in the ratings.

Mention that KITO has a new country format, started November 23, 1959

Their sister station is KFOX from Long Beach.
