I received this from Mike in Oregan (who discovered this in an old Volkswagon), and a copy from Johnny Helm, regarding the strike and wages.

Where did they all go? Looks like K/men is emphasing Heavy Albums this week like Sweet Baby James-James Taylor

1963 KFXM

K/men presented their top 129 of 1963, but KFXM never published (to my knowledge) their year end list.
So a few years ago I loaded the information I had from the KFXM surveys from 1963, and came up with the following top 170 of the year. The calculations included the weeks on the survey, and the position it held to determine it's year end position.
It qualified for 1963 if it hit it's peak position in 1963.
This is probably not 100% accurate, but it is something to compare the K/men survey to for 1963. I can't go back and recheck anything at this time on the old computer, so if it had mistakes, they are here to stay.

Johnny Helm said...
"Christmas 1970 was not a very merry one for me. Dave McCormick, one of the best PD's ever, was let go the week before. "Scooter" Seagraves was named the new program director. I gave my two weeks notice, and left K/MEN the first week in January. I loved the station and the people that worked there. New management came in and totally wrecked a great radio station. "Scooter" had no clue how to program the station. He added a bunch of album cuts that turned listeners off in groves. "

This brought up a question from one of your listeners, Johnny.

"Interesting bit from the Helmsman. So where did JH go afer KMEN and thereafter? Quit radio??By the way, I do enjoy listening to you on KFXM.com. It's the tidbits I enjoy also."

I know off and on during the 1970's Johnny returned to K/men, what did he do after he left K/men in 1971?
