Steve Carey was nuts. Absolutely nuts. One of the funniest guys I've ever known. Just a joy to be around.>> >> Dave Sebastian was also a lot of fun. Very driven. He's owned his own recording studio in LA for many years. He also teaches classes in how to do voiceover work.>> >> Mark Ford was the loner of the group. He was older than the rest of the guys and didn't seem to have much interest in outside events. I never really got to know him.>> >> Dusty Morgan was also a great guy. He hung around long enough to outlast all of these guys and become program director. He also played on the softball team and was lots of fun. Any idea what happened to him? Anyone For Bowling?

This really doesn't have anything to do with KFXM or K/MEN, but take a look anyway.


George Arnold was the proprieter of San Bernardino Recreation Center, a bowling alley on Highland Avenue between D Street and Arrowhead. In the late sixties and the seventies I would go there to bowl, but most of the time to play the pinball machines. George was always good to myself and my friends. We would say, let's go to George's to play some pinball.


After George retired (probably about 20 years ago) someone else took it over, and it finally closed up (I think it's some kind of medical facility/supply house now).

I spent a lot of time there, and it was a big part of my life. George was a real nice guy.

Tell It To The Rain-Four Seasons

I was listening to a Four Seasons Greatest Hits CD and Tell It To The Rain came on. This reminded me that in December 1966 I saw this song listed on the KFXM and K/MEN surveys, and I liked the Four Seasons so I waited to hear the song on the radio, I never did hear it. I don't think I heard until years later when I actually got a copy of the record.

On KFXM the song never made the Top 40, but was only listed as a Personal Pick of Bill Surrey. On K/MEN it got up to #28 it's second week on the chart, then fell off. It wasn't much of a hit. So I thought.

I recently checked on the Billboard Charts, and it got up to #10! That was big surprise to me. This was the opposite of a lot of hits on the K/MEN and KFXM charts. Usually it seemed a lot of songs did better locally than nationally, with some of the top ten hits at least getting close to the top ten.

Anyone know of any other national hits not making it locally? Maybe I'll do some research and see what else didn't make it.
